Ansel Adams Post

Ansel Adams grew up in a harsh environment, his family's fortune was crashed in 1907 due to the financial panic. On top of his families brutality towards Ansel because of their financial crisis, he had been thrown on the ground by the earthquake and fire of 1906 and because of this, his nose was broken and turned into an oddly shaped nose. His school life was also bad, he was diagnosed as hyperactive and there was stipulation that he suffered from dyslexia as well. All of his difficulty during school made him only achieve a "legitimizing diploma" which is basically the equivalent of graduating the eighth grade. He enjoyed nature very much and taught himself to read music and play piano, he began to take lessons after he had taught himself to play the piano and it soon became his occupation. Learning to play the piano helped shaped him as an artist in the photography world by teaching him the strict discipline of being a musician. He worked at the Sierra Club and soon met his wife, with whom he had two children. his first writings and works had appeared in the bulletin at the Sierra club in 1922 and he had his first man exhibition in 1928 at the club's San Francisco head quarters. Ansel created his first fully visualized photo in 1927.

I chose this photo because I love how the rays of light are in contrast with the darkness of the mountains.
